Unicorns and T-Rexes (L.A. and Wisteria Lane)
Oftentimes, my children tell wonderful, believable stories about their days at school. However, when they start talking about unicorns and dinosaurs making appearances, it is vital that I in turn question every detail of their day.
So, when I start talking unicorns and t-rexes, please stay with me. I assure you that it is all true. I was contacted by a woman in California because she stumbled upon my blogs at www.momaha.coma and felt that I would be a good fit for a campaign she was working on with Con Agra Foods.
This campaign, Child Hunger Ends Here Neighborhood Rally, is a way for communities to rally together to stamp out child hunger and to raise awareness about the issue of child hunger. So she wanted to know if I’d be interested.
Kids going hungry? In my neighborhood? You bet I’m interested in putting a stop to this. Nearly one in four children in the United States doesn’t know where his next meal is coming from. That’s nearly 17 million kids across the country from all walks of life – from cities to rural areas; two-income families to single-parent homes.
So the unicorns and t-rexes showed up when she informed me that they would be flying me out to L.A. for the media launch on the set of Wisteria Lane. No lie. Stay tuned for more details. (or better yet, subscribe to this blog!)
Rallying on Wisteria Lane

I had the opportunity to visit Los Angeles this week. The weather was beautiful, the homes were amazing, and the people were fantastic. It was a great trip. But I was there for a reason. To rally my family, friends and neighbors to stamp out child hunger.
Our first agenda item was to visit the Los Angeles Food Bank. This food bank feeds more than 1 million people a year! We were able to help by packing 168 backpack’s for Feeding America’s Backpack Program. This program provides food to children who are at the greatest risk of going hungry when not in school. For more information on your local food bank and how you can help, visit Feeding America’s website.
The big event was on Wednesday. We were able to visit the set of Desperate Housewives and be on hand for ConAgra’s Child Hunger Ends Here media launch. We toured the homes, met some celebrities, and had a great time.
While this was great and exciting, the real need still exists. Children are still missing meals, families are still struggling, but we can help. For every one dollar donated, feeding america can turn that into seven meals! So don’t worry if your rally isn’t big. Even if you just make a small monetary donation, that can make a difference in a lot of lives. Register your rally today.
Together we can make a difference!

Thank you all that came and thank you all that made donations to Feeding America. This is a great charity doing great things and I feel privileged to be a part of this amazing effort.
